The Drive-On-In initiative began in 1995. Brother-and-sister team Kipp Sherer and Jennifer Sherer Janisch formed Drive-On-In to facilitate doing a wide range of projects together.

Initially drive-in movie theater related, the projects now reach beyond the scope of drive-ins to include popular culture, horticulture, even renewable energy.

In June 1999, the privately held company incorporated, setting the formal foundation for expanding its portfolio of projects, including those listed below.
